One Killed in Lowell Construction Accident

At least one person has been killed in a Lowell construction accident that took place at a Lake County housing development.

Lowell Construction Accident Under Investigation

The tragic incident occurred at the site of the Kingston Ridge subdivision, a community of single-family homes that is currently being built in Lowell, IN.  On the early afternoon of October 22, 2024, the Lowell Fire Department and the Tri-Creek EMS were called to Kingston Ridge after receiving a report that someone in a trench was experiencing cardiac arrest.

Because there was limited information available about the extent of the injuries incurred by the victim in the trench or whether that trench had collapsed, the presence of the District 1 Technical Rescue Team was requested as well.  However, upon arriving at the scene of the Lowell construction accident, emergency responders were able to ascertain that the individual in question had sustained fatal injuries after being struck by an excavator and that the trench had not caved in.

The Lowell Police Department and the Lake County Coroner’s Office were subsequently dispatched on site for further investigation.  Additional details about the identity of the deceased and the facts leading up to the Lowell construction accident have not yet been released.
