Two Injured in Starke County Semi Truck Crash

Two people have been injured in a Thursday morning semi truck crash that also involved an overturned Jeep.

Starke County Semi Truck Crash Flips Jeep

The Starke County semi truck crash took place before noon on January 16, 2025.  At that time, a white Jeep was heading eastbound on U.S. 30 through Starke County, IN, with a semi truck traveling directly behind it.

The driver of the Jeep, later identified as a Hamlet woman, is then believed to have slowed down in response to difficult roadway surface conditions at or near U.S. 30’s intersection with 1200 East.  However, the semi truck’s driver, a man from Lima, OH, apparently failed to reduce his speed accordingly and plowed into the rear of the Jeep, which caused the Jeep to veer off the road and flip over.

Personnel from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office, the Starke County EMS, and the Koontz Lake-Oregon Township Fire Department were subsequently called to the accident site, where they found the woman trapped inside of her Jeep.  Upon her extraction, both drivers were transported from the scene of the Starke County semi truck crash to area hospitals to receive treatment for unspecified injuries.
