Several Injured in Crown Point Indiana 12 Semi Truck Pileup

Several people have been injured in a Crown Point truck pileup that involved multiple semi-trailers and passenger vehicles.

Crown Point Truck Pileup Occurred During Snowstorm

According to the Indiana State Police, the Crown Point truck pileup occurred during a massive snowstorm on the evening of January 2, 2024.  While the exact sequence of events is not currently known, the multi-vehicle collision reportedly took place on northbound I-65 at Mile Marker 247 in Crown Point, IN.

In total, twelve semi-trailers and various smaller vehicles appear to have been damaged in the Crown Point truck pileup, which also resulted in a major diesel fuel spill that had to be contained by a hazmat team.  Additionally, emergency responders were dispatched to transport a number of injured motorists to area hospitals, though their conditions have not yet been disclosed.

All northbound lanes of traffic were subsequently shut down to allow crews to clean up debris and conduct an investigation.  Authorities redirected approaching drivers away from the site of the Crown Point truck pileup towards the Lowell exit, where they could access alternate routes.
