Scheid Diesel Extravaganza Jeep Accident Critically Injures Four

Three pedestrians and one driver were critically injured in a Scheid Diesel Extravaganza Jeep accident in Lyons, IN.

Jeep Allegedly Driven into Crowd

The Scheid Diesel Extravaganza Jeep accident took place at Wagler Motorsports Park shortly before 7:15 p.m. on August 23, 2024.

At that time, a Jeep which was being used as a pit vehicle was allegedly driven out of the truck pull staging area into the crowd, where it struck three pedestrians, a side-by-side, a track rake, and another vehicle before rolling over onto its side.

The Jeep’s driver and the three pedestrians were all taken to area hospitals, where they were reported to be in critical condition.

Scheid Diesel Extravaganza Jeep Accident Under Investigation

The Scheid Diesel Extravaganza Jeep accident is currently under investigation by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, who were advised of the incident by members of the Switz City Fire Department.

The Scheid Diesel Extravaganza is an annual motorsports event sponsored by Scheid Diesel Service Company Incorporated, a diesel repair and fuel injection service center.  Scheid is headquartered in Terre Haute, with additional locations in Lafayette and Effingham, IL.

Investigators have asked anyone with information about the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza Jeep accident to contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
