One Dead Following I-465 Semi Truck Crash

At least one person is dead following an I-465 semi truck crash that shut down multiple lanes of traffic on Sunday morning.

I-465 Semi Truck Crash Causes Vehicle Fire

The fatal I-465 semi truck crash took place in Indianapolis between East 30^th Street and East 38^th Street at around 7:42 a.m. on September 22, 2024.  According to a statement from the Indiana Department of Transportation, a car was traveling north on I-465 near the 42.9 mile marker when it collided with a semi truck at that time.

A motorist was reportedly killed in the I-465 semi truck crash, which also caused a vehicle to catch fire.  A large amount of smoke from the blaze was still lingering in the area when the Indiana State Police arrived at the scene to investigate the accident.

The agency has not yet released further details about how the I-465 semi truck crash may have occurred.  The northbound lanes of I-465 have been closed since the tragic collision to facilitate the investigation, and no information was immediately provided about when those lanes were expected to reopen.
