Man Killed in Boone County Dump Truck Accident

One man has been killed and another has been injured in an early afternoon Boone County dump truck accident in Central Indiana.

Boone County Dump Truck Accident Being Investigated

The fatal Boone County dump truck accident took place in the 3000 block of State Road 47 East – just west of Elizaville and around eight miles northwest of Lebanon – at approximately 2:00 p.m. on September 16, 2024.

When officers from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office arrived on site, they found a white 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with “significant damage” still in the roadway, as well as an overturned dump truck.

The pickup truck’s driver, a 34-year-old Kirklin man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the Boone County dump truck accident.  The driver of the dump truck, a 61-year-old Lafayette man, was taken to a local hospital with what were characterized as “non-life-threatening injuries.”

No further details were immediately released about what led up to the tragic collision, which is reportedly being investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office’s Fatal Alcohol Crash Team.
