A rider has been killed in a Sunday afternoon Indianapolis motorcycle crash involving another vehicle, according to authorities.

Left Turn Brings About Indianapolis Motorcycle Crash

The fatal Indianapolis motorcycle crash took place shortly before 3:00 p.m. on November 17, 2024. At that time, a 54-year-old motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Emerson Avenue, approaching its intersection with Heathwood Drive, when a motor vehicle heading southbound on Emerson Avenue made a sudden left turn, apparently bringing about a violent collision.

Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IPMD) and emergency medics were subsequently dispatched to the scene, where both the cyclist and the driver of the other vehicle were still present. The cyclist was then transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead after arrival.

The surviving driver has reportedly cooperated with the police investigation into the Indianapolis motorcycle crash and participated in a blood draw, which the IMPD said is “standard procedure” in collisions resulting in death or serious injury.
