Bartholomew County Crash Brings Down Power Lines

Power lines were downed and Friday night traffic was stalled following a Bartholomew County crash in Edinburgh, IN.

Helicopter Called to Bartholomew County Crash Site

The Bartholomew County crash took place in the early evening of September 20, 2024.  Shortly before 5:00 p.m., officers from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department and the Edinburgh Police Department arrived at the scene of a “serious” collision between an SUV and a motorcycle on U.S. 31 at 900 North, near Edmundson RV Sales & Service.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 31 were closed in the aftermath of the Bartholomew County crash, which reportedly knocked over power lines as well.  According to a Facebook post from the German Township Volunteer Fire Department, a Lifeline helicopter was also called to the site.

No further details were immediately available about the Bartholomew County crash, which remains under investigation, nor have authorities released how many people were harmed, though the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office did confirm that U.S 31 has since reopened.
