Tippecanoe County Truck Accident Injures Two Women

Two women have been badly injured in a head-on Tippecanoe County truck accident several miles south of Lafayette, IN.

Median Crossed Prior to Tippecanoe County Truck Accident 

The Tippecanoe County truck accident took place at or near the intersection of U.S. 52 and East 600 South at approximately 10:10 a.m. on January 14, 2024.  According to authorities, a Freightliner semi-trailer was traveling northbound on U.S. 52 when it slid across the median, veered into the southbound lane of traffic, and smashed into a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica minivan moving in the opposite direction. 

Officers from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office were then called to the crash site, where they found that the minivan’s female driver had suffered a compound leg fracture and shoulder and neck fractures, while her passenger, also female, had sustained internal injuries. 

Both of the women were subsequently transported from the scene of the Tippecanoe County truck accident to a local hospital, as was the semi-trailer’s driver, who was treated and later released for complaints of pain.  

The cause of the collision has not yet been determined, though drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a role.  However, investigators have noted that it was snowing at the time of the Tippecanoe County truck accident and that snow had already accumulated on the roadway.
