Young Man Injured in Indiana Toll Road Truck Collision

A young man has been seriously injured in an Indiana Toll Road truck collision with his stationary SUV.

Indiana Toll Road Truck Collision Under Investigation 

The Indiana Toll Road truck collision occurred at around 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.  At that time, a 19-year-old Frankfort, IL man was driving a Ford SUV in the eastbound lanes of traffic near the Elkhart exit when the SUV allegedly spun out on the snow-covered roads before coming to a complete stop in the middle of the highway. 

The man then exited his vehicle on the driver’s side, where he was still standing when a passing Volvo semi-trailer struck the SUV on the passenger side, with the force of the impact propelling the SUV into its driver and throwing him into a roadside ditch. 

Officers from the Indiana State Police (ISP) and emergency responders were called to the scene of the Indiana Toll Road truck collision shortly afterward.  The SUV’s driver was transported to Memorial Hospital in neighboring South Bend, though the truck’s driver, a 64-year-old from Philadelphia, PA, is believed to have been unharmed in the incident. 

The crash site was subsequently closed until 8:20 p.m. to allow authorities to remove the damaged vehicles and conduct an investigation into the Indiana Toll Road truck collision, which the ISP confirmed took place under conditions that were “hazardous” as result of “ongoing snowfall.”
