Meet Shelley
Biography
Shelley Gupta was born in Maryland and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She attended Bryn Mawr College, outside of Philadelphia, PA, where she studied philosophy, specifically ethics and ancient political philosophy, graduating in 2009. While at Bryn Mawr, Shelley received the Joy Simonson Internship Grant, which allowed her to intern with the Indiana Pro Bono Commission with the Indiana State Bar Association. She then continued her education at Ohio Northern University, College of Law in Ada, OH, graduating in 2012. While at Ohio Northern, Shelley received the Public Interest in Law Fellowship, which allowed her to intern at the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. Shelley was admitted to practice in the Indiana State and Federal Courts in October 2012.
Shelley worked in the public sector for 12 years prior to joining Hensley Legal Group. For the first six years of her career, Shelley served as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Elkhart and Marion Counties, handling traffic court, misdemeanors, major felony sex crimes, child support matters, and unemployment insurance fraud.
In 2019, Shelley joined Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County’s Environmental Court Team, where she was Senior Counsel and supervisor. She worked to enforce the health code. Shelley ensured the residents of Marion County were not in conditions that posed a health and safety risk. She loved that she made a visible difference in the community and had a positive impact on the residents of Marion County.
Shelley was appointed to the Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program by the Indiana Supreme Court in July 2025. Additionally, she is an active member with the Indiana State Bar, in which she co-chairs the Diversity Committee. Shelley has also successfully completed the Indianapolis Bar Leadership Series (2018) through the Indianapolis Bar Association and the Leadership Development Academy (2025) through the Indiana State Bar Association.
In her free time, Shelley enjoys crafting, reading/listening to audio books, rock climbing, and binging shows on streaming.
