Biography

Megan Lautner grew up in northern Michigan, where she played women’s ice hockey in the winter and spent time at her family’s farm in the summer. It was her membership in a high school Peer-to-Peer program that connected students with disabilities with general education students to participate in school events and activities together that inspired her to pursue a career helping people with disabilities.

Megan began realizing this goal by focusing her undergraduate studies in applied behavior analysis and volunteering at an autism center on campus, and she also worked as a part-time personal caregiver for two individuals with disabilities.  Through these experiences, she witnessed firsthand the many obstacles that people with disabilities face, especially with regard to accessibility, which ultimately convinced her to become their advocate.

Megan graduated Magna Cum Laude from Central Michigan University’s Centralis Honors Program in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology in Criminal and Social Justice.  After a gap year as an intern for a local estate planning and elder law firm, she attended Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis, where she earned her J.D. in May 2025.

Megan began her career at Hensley Legal Group as an SSD law clerk in April 2025. Upon passing the bar exam, she transitioned to her current role as an SSD attorney, a dream job the allows her to actualize her passion for disability advocacy each and every day.

Megan currently lives in Indianapolis with her two cats, Catsinova and Nevaeh. When she is not in the office, Megan enjoys reading, attending local bar trivia nights, traveling, and visiting her family up north.
