Biography

Houston Hum grew up in Arkansas and moved to Indianapolis after graduating with a degree in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame in 2007. During his time at Notre Dame, he received the prestigious Tara K. Deutsch Award in recognition of his dedication to social consciousness and helping the less fortunate. He went on to earn his law degree with honors from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law in 2013, where he was selected to the Moot Court Order of the Barristers and competed in multiple national competitions.

Before attending law school, Houston earned his CPA license and worked in the tax department of a Big Four accounting firm. His background in finance and accounting provides him with a sharp analytical approach to complex legal matters. He is admitted to practice in all Indiana state courts, both United States District Courts in Indiana, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

For more than a decade, Houston worked as a civil defense attorney at two well-regarded Indianapolis law firms, gaining a reputation for vigorously defending cases while maintaining compassion for those involved. Over the years, he has built strong relationships with insurance companies and attorneys on both sides of the legal spectrum. He has successfully handled cases related to personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, construction defects, toxic substance exposure, and professional malpractice, and he prides himself on his meticulous approach to accident investigations, particularly involving trucks.

Houston’s skills and dedication have earned him numerous accolades from his peers, including selection as a Rising Star by Indiana’s Super Lawyers Magazine in 2022 and 2023—an honor awarded to only 2.5% of eligible attorneys. He was also selected as a Super Lawyer by Indiana’s Super Lawyers Magazine in 2024 and 2025.

An active member of the American Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, and the Indianapolis Bar Association, he is excited to join Hensley Legal Group and bring his extensive personal injury experience to plaintiff advocacy.

Houston and his wife live in Noblesville with their four children, whose activities have become a central part of their lives. They are parishioners of Christ the King Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Outside of work and family, Houston enjoys watching Notre Dame athletics, Butler basketball, and baseball, which he considers America’s greatest game.
