Teacher of the Month

After all of our great work with Backpacks4good, we caught the education giving bug and wanted to find a way to support Indiana’s great educators. We opened a program to the Indiana community-at-large to nominate their favorite teachers.

The nominations poured in! We started surprising these great educators with a check for $500, pizza for their classroom, mini-Colts footballs and their picture on a billboard.

To date, we have recognized the efforts of 13 great Indiana educators. To nominate your favorite teacher, fill out the form below.

It was such an honor to surprise Shannon Humphries from Plainfield Community Middle School with our Teacher of the Month award for March. Shannon was chosen from a long nominee list of Indiana educators. Here’s what the student who nominated her had to say: “I’ve always found ELA to be a favorable subject of mine, a real passion honestly. Although I am not always a perfect student, I can be talkative, forgetful, rambunctious, and lack logical thinking at times. Despite all my flaws, Mrs.Humphries has always made me feel like I matter in a classroom and not just me she makes everyone feel welcome and heard. She’s very kind and patient even when I can be difficult. She’s funny and witty in a way that always brings joy to the classroom. She’s creative and always has interesting lessons and units (especially the Poe and poetry unit) she’s encouraged my passion for literature in so many ways! Suggesting contests and after-school clubs. She’s always looking to help a student to their full potential. I don’t know why Mrs. Humphries puts up with me, but I appreciate it nonetheless. She really deserves this award and is a wonderful person and teacher.” Congratulations, Mrs. Humphries!
