If you start to feel chest pain at the scene of a crash, dial 911 to request the presence of police and emergency personnel. Next, seek treatment. Paramedics might be able to provide you with some medical attention, though you may need to go to the emergency room for x-rays and other tests before you can diagnose your injury. The sooner you get treated, the sooner your chest injury can be officially recorded. While gaps in treatment could permit doubt to be cast on the relationship between your injury and the car accident, medical records verifying the existence of that injury on the same date as the accident could provide vital support for your case. Regardless of where you get treated, it is pivotal that you do get treated. If you try to “tough it out” because you’re worried about spending time and money, you could end up spending far more of both because you disregarded symptoms that should have been addressed right away. Additionally, you should take pictures and shoot videos of your surroundings and your injuries, both at the crash site and over the course of your treatment, since they could convey your struggles much more effectively than words ever could.
