Teacher Critically Injured in Indianapolis Semi Truck Accident

A teacher was critically injured in an Indianapolis semi truck accident that took place just outside of Decatur Central High School on Monday morning.

Indianapolis Semi Truck Accident Under Investigation

The Indianapolis semi truck accident occurred in the 5200 block of Kentucky Avenue shortly before 8:00 a.m. on November 18, 2024.  At that time, it is believed that a semi truck failed to stop at a red light at Kentucky Avenue’s intersection with South High School Road and struck a pickup truck operated by a teacher who had a green light.  A spokesperson for the Metropolitan School District of Decatur Township said that the collision was “very visible” to staff and students at the main entrance of the high school.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IPMD), the teacher was subsequently rushed to Eskenazi Health in “critical condition.”  The semi truck’s driver was also taken to an area hospital for a blood draw, which is standard procedure after serious or fatal accidents in the State of Indiana.

The IMPD reportedly shut down the site of the Indianapolis semi truck accident for several hours so that crews could remove the vehicles and police could conduct an investigation.  No further information has yet been released about what led up to the crash or whether anyone else suffered injuries.
