Four Injured in Evansville Apartment Fire

At least four people have been injured in an early morning Evansville apartment fire, according to authorities.

Evansville Apartment Fire Under Investigation

The Evansville apartment fire took place shortly before 3:41 a.m. on October 30, 2024.  Crews from the Evansville Fire Department (EFD) were then dispatched to the Ingle Terrace Apartments, a duplex that is located on Ingle Street near the Lloyd Expressway and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in downtown Evansville, IN.

Emergency responders arrived to find that smoke and flames were visible from the back of the two-story structure.  The blaze was reportedly put out in approximately 20 minutes, though the middle units have been characterized as a “complete loss.”

Four residents were later transported from the scene of the Evansville apartment fire for medical treatment.  EFD Division Chief Jay Paul said that one of the victims had sustained a “lower extremity” injury after jumping from the second floor of the duplex, while the other three suffered from smoke inhalation.

The Red Cross and Animal Control were also called in to assist everyone who has been displaced by the Evansville apartment fire, which remains under investigation.

No further details have been released about the incident at this time, and the cause is not immediately known.
