Is Distracted Driving Dangerous? – Traffic Safety Tips with Sgt. John Perrine – Ep. 04

[TRANSCRIPT]:

At highway speeds, in the time that it takes to look at your cell phone, you travel about the length of a football field—300 feet. So would you drive blindfolded on a highway for 300 feet? Because by looking at your phone while driving, that’s exactly what you’re doing.

You need to limit those distractions. We need to think about other distractions other than just cell phones as well. GPS units, car radios, iPads, computers, children in the back seat, food, drinks—all of those things are distractions that will hinder your ability to safely drive your vehicle. Please, limit those distractions.
