Valerie Loya Introduces New Video Series in The Indiana Lawyer

The video series aims to educate the public about critical legal topics while fostering greater visibility and representation for the Latino community in Indianapolis.

Hensley Legal Group’s own Valerie Loya recently published an article in The Indiana Lawyer introducing a new video series created by the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Hispanic Lawyers Division in partnership with Latinos Indy.

According to Valerie, the video series is “all about empowerment, education, community connection, and promoting local events for the Latino community in Indianapolis.” The first videos have discussed the difference between civil and criminal cases and provided an overview of immigration law, while future topics will include “housing rights, family law, labor and employment and more – always with the goal of making legal information approachable and relevant,” a goal that may be more important now than ever before.

“In a time when good news on your feed feels scarce,” Valerie notes, “this initiative is a reminder that positive change is possible, and that the legal community has a vital role to play in making it happen.”

In addition to educating the public, the series also seeks to foster greater visibility and representation “by featuring Latino attorneys and legal professionals” and showcasing “role models and relatable voices for viewers who may not often see themselves reflected in the legal system.” And though the participants will not be required to speak in Spanish, “the videos will have Spanish subtitles as a powerful way to build confidence within that community.”

The Chair of the Hispanic Lawyers Division, Valerie Loya has been working as a personal injury lawyer for the past six years at Hensley Legal Group, PC, a dedicated Indiana personal injury law firm whose experienced attorneys have been fighting on behalf of the wrongfully injured since 1998. She primarily represents members of Indiana’s Spanish-speaking community who have been injured through no fault of their own.
