On Duty Hancock Sheriff’s Deputy Arrested for DUI after Crash

December 21, 2010 – Greenfield – According to news website theIndychannel.com, an Indiana sheriff’s deputy was arrested for driving drunk on Tuesday morning after he was involved in a 2-car accident. The deputy, Michael Robinson, who is a 10-year veteran of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, was actually on duty at the time of the DUI accident.

According to published reports, the drunk driving accident occurred on West County Road at around 9:30 in the morning. Robinson was uninjured in the crash, while another driver suffered minor injuries. Robinson’s squad car, however, was badly damaged as a result of the DUI accident. When tested at the scene of the crash, Robinson’s blood-alcohol level registered .16.

In Indiana, any driver with a blood-alcohol level above .08 is considered Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and will face penalties if convicted. Following the car accident, Robinson was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He is currently being held in jail outside of Hancock County.
