Driver Arrested in Muncie DUI Crash

June 15, 2011 – Muncie, Ind. – The intoxicated driver who injured 4 children in a car accident on Friday has been arrested and is facing felony charges. According to a report at The Star Press, the 49-year-old woman from Muncie was released from the hospital on Monday and arrested. She was taken to the Delaware County jail where she is facing a felony charge of driving under the influence with a juvenile in the car and it appears that additional charges are forthcoming.

The charges stem from an accident on Friday evening, in which the driver passed out behind the wheel and crashed head-on into a pickup truck on Kilgore Avenue. The woman was tested positive for cocaine, marijuana and prescription pills at the time of the crash.

There were 5 children in the car, and police have now determined that none of the children were wearing seatbelts when the accident occurred. Four of the children suffered personal injuries, although their conditions are currently unknown. The identities of the victims haven’t been released, but police believe at least 2 of the children are related to the driver.
