June 20, 2011 – Indianapolis, Ind. – Indianapolis police are investigating a serious head-on collision that may have been caused by a drunk driver.
According to a report at WRTV Indianapolis, the alcohol-related crash took place around 12 p.m. on Friday.
Police say the suspected drunk driver was behind the wheel of a 1999 Plymouth traveling eastbound on 38th Street when he veered into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into a 1989 Chevrolet near the intersection with Mitthoeffer Road.
Pictures from the scene show that both vehicles sustained severe damage. The entire front-end of the Plymouth is crushed and debris liters the scene around the wreckage.
Both drivers suffered serious personal injuries in this possible DUI crash and were taken by ambulance to Wishard Memorial Hospital. Both drivers are in serious condition, and police are not releasing their identities “due to the potential death of both drivers,” according to a spokesman with the Indianapolis police.
