Why The Fine?
Following the recent GM recall of more than 2.8 million vehicles that are believed to have been linked to 13 deaths, The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration has begun fining GM. They will fine GM $7,000 a day until they begin to get the answers they are looking for. This fine started after April 3, when GM was supposed to have 100 questions answered, in which NHTSA says “GM failed to answer a third of their questions, including several that required no technical expertise”.
